RRR02: II. Physiology and Endocrinology
IBLCE Domain II: Physiology and Endocrinology Breastmilk biochemistry, induced lactation, ART, tandem feeding, and multiples: advanced breastfeeding care
IBLCE Domain II. Physiology and Endocrinology explore lactation in complex scenarios such as ART, tandem feeding, and multiples, enabling IBCLCs to tailor care that supports milk transfer, maternal health, and each infant’s nutritional needs.
Course Learning Outcomes
- Critically appraise evidence on breastfeeding after ART and its impact on lactation, milk supply, and infant outcomes.
- Apply lactation physiology to manage breastfeeding for twins and multiples, supporting milk supply and individualised care.
- Evaluate evidence on tandem breastfeeding to guide counselling on milk composition, intake adequacy, and maternal wellbeing.
