ELC01: The Ethical IBCLC: Principles and Responsibilities

Master ethical breastfeeding care: beneficence, autonomy, justice, integrity & safe, evidence-based clinical practice for professional

Build ethical decision-making skills for IBCLCs using practical frameworks to navigate dilemmas, apply standards in clinical care, ensure public safety, and uphold professional integrity and trust in breastfeeding support.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Develop a clear understanding of ethical and legal principles to support safe, accountable, and professional practice in breastfeeding care.
  2. Examine and apply ethical decision-making frameworks to support consistent, evidence-based practice in lactation care.
  3. Apply ethical reasoning skills to guide safe, respectful, and evidence-based decision-making in clinical lactation practice.
